Crumpet for Lunch

Recently, we ventured out to Crumpet in East Victoria Park for lunch. Having read some good reviews, we decided to try their signature dish.

First disappointment of the day: no crumpets left! Sure we were there at 12pm, but for a place that does all-day breakfast, I didn't think it was too much to expect. So we settled for the pancakes and an eggs benedict each.

The pancakes looked and tasted lovely. Only gripe is that they were stingy on the maple syrup.

The eggs benedict were another matter entirely. Both our eggs (so that makes 4) were undercooked. Majorly so! The white were runny and still translucent. There also wasn't enough hollandaise to even cover the whole egg and what there was wasn't lemony enough either.

I also ordered a cappuccino for Sai, which ended up more like a latte?! To a non-coffee drinker, you would expect the coffee flavour to hit hard, but his capp just tasted like milk to me.

Strangely enough, my sister and her hubby also made a trip to Crumpet earlier that same day with very different results. However they also agreed the eggs were on the raw side. Perhaps a good breakfast place for some, but we won't be returning anytime soon...
